A Filipino Thanksgiving

Nov 28, 2013

It was a chilly morning, my step dad was making some Filipino dishes to serve the guests who will be arriving late afternoon. He cooked Menudo, which is a Filipino dish made with tomato sauce, pork, and carrots. And giniling baboy, which is basically ground pork with raisins and potatoes :) I didn't took a picture of it because it was gone so fast!!
In every Thanksgiving we host the party. So what is Thanksgiving without turkey and ham right??

Ham was baked with liquefied brown sugar and pineapple juice then topped with pineapple chunks. It was the BOMB!!
This years turkey was deep fried. My step sister made sure that it was going to be really good. She stuffed it with baked potatoes and carrots and put an apple for a "lechon" effect.
There other food such as Lumpiang sariwa ( fresh lumpia) but i didn't bother to take a picture of it because it was tempting enough. LOL
I on the other hand, made desserts! I made a flan which called leche flan which is basically egg yolks with condensed milk and brown sugar and steamed. And a dessert I've never made before called bibingkinitan, It's similar to a cupcake but sticky because it's made of glutinous rice, coconut shreds and some vanilla flavoring. I just baked it for half an hour.

The last but not list dessert is the sweet potato pie which my younger step sister made. It was so so so good!! She made it by scratch. I think we have a baker in the family :)

So that is my Thanksgiving! Of course my family finish the food. We had fun being together and so thankful to have each other. Hopefully Christmas wouldn't be as chaotic....
